Greetings NBCC
As we move forward in 2017, it is important that we look back on 2016 and remember how our Savior Jesus Christ has blessed us. Through His grace and mercy, we had the opportunity to assist in supplying meals for over 46,000 individuals; we provided financial assistance to two shelters; and we had the opportunity to meet and fellowship with the homeless population in Covington, KY, providing over 300 lunches during the summer. Brothers and Sisters of NBCC, God truly blessed us in 2016.
So perhaps the question is asked, “where do we go now”? Well, there are four areas that can assist us to accomplish our goals in 2017. If you were looking for something more detailed and complex, I am sorry to disappoint you. However, we know if we “trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not unto our own understanding”, He will provide. It’s His elegant simplicity.
The first area is doing the basics wholeheartedly and consistently for a long time. Psalms 125:1 says “They that trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion which cannot be removed but abideth forever.” We have to keep the faith. The basics consist of prayer, worship, discipleship, evangelism, ministry, fellowship; we know the list. If you break it down, it’s all about the Great Commandment and the Great Commission - Love God, love others and make disciples.
Secondly, we must “do them wholeheartedly”. That means that whatever we attempt, we do it with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, trusting Jesus to provide our direction, letting Jesus be Lord every day. Doing the Great Commandment and the Great Commission with wholehearted passion creates unity.
Thirdly, “we do them consistently”. Very few behaviors will undercut our continued efforts more than inconsistency or imbalance. With everyone we come in contact, we must present being reliable and, whatever the venture, doing it consistently. Paul wrote in first Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that you labor is not in vain in the Lord”.
Lastly, “we do them for a long time”. Love Jesus and Love your neighbor with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Then we teach others to do the same. Wholeheartedly, without compromise. We cannot build relationships without fellowship, increasing opportunities to tell them about Jesus.
Brothers and Sisters, in 2017, if we seek Him first, all things shall be added unto us. In 2017 we can become Kingdom Builders.
May God continue to bless and keep you. To God be the Glory.
