Prayer and thankfulness are often joined in Scripture. In the Daniel 6:10, we see Daniel standing for his God. Look at verse 10, “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime”.
Now to let’s investigate where the trouble begins look at verses 3, 4, 11 and 12 we see the plan begins to move forward. A plan to stop prayer, but it did not was going to praise his God. You see prayer is an expression of our thankfulness to a gracious and giving God.
Prayer is an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship through deliberate communication. In the narrow sense, the term refers to an act of supplication or intercession directed towards a deity. The bible says in 1st Chronicles 13:34, “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endured forever”.
Praise and thanksgiving should be the lifestyle of every believer. Every praiseful Christian is a joyful Christian and every joyful Christian will always carry the presence of God around.
The bible tells us that in the presence of God there is fullness of Joy, the bible says in Psalms 16:11, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore”.
When we praise God, we seek His attention, when we praise God, he steps into our situations, when we praise God, we let Him know that we trust Him even in the midst of our trials.
To praise God means to magnify God, and to magnify God means to make God bigger than our situations and circumstances. We must learn to praise God because of who He is. Not because of just what he will do in our lives, but because of who He is.
Prayer is an expression of our thankfulness to a gracious and giving God. Colossians 1:3 tells us, “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you”.
Genuine prayers of thanksgiving to God will express itself in three categories of blessings:
We Are Thankful for What God “Has” Done for Us”
Our Heavenly Father has given us physical life, Genesis 2:7, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. He has provided the things necessary to sustain our lives, i.e. rain from heaven, food, water, and clothing, air to breathe a glorious place in which to reside.
More importantly, He has given us spiritual life as John 10:10 informs us, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
This life was given to us through the precious sacrifice of His Son. Our natural reaction to such a wonderful gift as this should be that of Paul, who said: “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift!” The Christian is thankful for the “past” blessings from God.
We Are Thankful for What He “Is” Doing for Us
We are thankful for His providence as we see in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”.
As Christian has the assurance that he is under the watchful eye and care of his Creator. We are thankful for His promises, Titus 1:2, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began”. We are thankful, the Christian serves a “promise-keeping” God. The Christian is thankful for the “present” blessings from God.
We Are Thankful for What He “Will” Do for Us
Our Lord is coming back for us and He has promised to give us eternal life. The Christian is thankful for the “future” blessings that will come from God.
Prayer is a vital part of the Christian’s life. May we never diminish its great importance. May God help us to be people who are not only thankful, but who are willing to express that thankfulness knowing that Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
I am convinced that every time we praise God, we let Him know that we still recognize His supremacy over our challenges. we let Him know that we trust that He is still in control of our lives. This prayers for praise and thanksgiving will launch you into the realms of ceaseless praise in Jesus name.
